Utility companies promise to spare us from AI’s energy bill
Nearly 200 utility companies and data center operators have signed a pledge to prevent the rapid growth of artificial intelligence from increasing electricity costs for residential consumers. The agreement follows public concern that the significant power demands of new data facilities could strain grids and drive up utility rates. By coordinating infrastructure development, these organizations aim to ensure that the expansion of AI-related energy infrastructure does not impose a financial burden on individual households.
