Debian won’t ban AI code from its Linux distribution

Debian has formally authorized the use of generative artificial intelligence tools for developing, maintaining, and documenting its Linux distribution. The project's new policy concludes that responsible AI usage can boost developer productivity, treating these tools as similar to existing software development aids. While the decision allows contributors to utilize AI-assisted code, the project maintains that developers remain fully accountable for any contributions they submit to the distribution.
