Terrorist groups are using every major AI chatbot for attack planning and weapons development
A University of Cambridge study indicates that groups including Boko Haram and ISIS are utilizing major AI chatbots to assist in planning attacks, developing explosives, and maintaining weaponry. The researchers found that operatives are actively refining methods to bypass the built-in safety filters of models like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. This development highlights a significant security challenge for AI developers, as the accessibility of these tools potentially lowers the technical barrier for non-state actors to acquire specialized knowledge for malicious operations.
