Microsoft's open-weight AI push is so obviously an Azure play it hurts

Microsoft has joined a coalition of over 20 companies, including Meta and Nvidia, to advocate for the development and use of open-weight AI models. By promoting these alternatives, Microsoft aims to reduce its reliance on proprietary technology from OpenAI and Anthropic while encouraging developers to run more workloads on its Azure cloud infrastructure.
