India needs its own DeepSeek or risk becoming dependent on US AI models: Bernstein

Analysts at Bernstein are urging India to develop domestic artificial intelligence platforms modeled after China’s DeepSeek to reduce reliance on American technology firms. The firm argues that depending exclusively on U.S. providers creates strategic vulnerabilities and hinders the nation's long-term digital sovereignty. By investing in independent infrastructure, India could mitigate the risk of restricted access to essential computing tools and gain greater control over its technological development.
