Anthropic sets Claude Code to Auto Mode by default to protect developers from bad approvals
Starting August 14, Anthropic will set Auto Mode as the default configuration for Claude Code on Pro, Max, and Team plans. The company implemented this change to improve security, citing testing data that indicates the internal classifier identifies harmful commands significantly more effectively than human reviewers. This shift aims to reduce the risk of accidental execution of dangerous code by automating the approval process for common development tasks.
