AIDE²: The First Evidence of Recursive Self-Improvement
Researchers have introduced AIDE², a framework that demonstrates a system autonomously refactoring its own codebase to enhance performance on coding tasks. By iteratively generating and applying code improvements without human intervention, the system provides a documented instance of recursive self-improvement. While the gains in efficiency remain incremental, the project offers a practical look at how automation might eventually accelerate software development cycles.
