Aleph Alpha releases Kolibri, an open-weight model that makes the case for European AI sovereignty

Aleph Alpha has released Kolibri, a 78.1B-parameter Mixture-of-Experts model that activates 3.46B parameters per token. The model supports a 1-million-token context window and is licensed under Apache 2.0. Because of its efficient architecture, the model can run on a single H200 or B200 GPU, making high-capacity English-German language processing more accessible for resource-constrained hardware deployments.
