Seven minutes with a chatbot beat a fact sheet at reducing conspiracy beliefs in two experiments

A study found that seven-minute conversations with Google Gemini were more effective at reducing conspiracy beliefs than reading static fact sheets. This effect persisted during follow-up surveys conducted weeks later, suggesting that interactive AI dialogue can address misinformation more successfully than traditional educational materials. Because the chatbot remained impactful even when verified facts were limited, these findings indicate that personalized, conversational AI could serve as a practical tool for curbing the spread of false claims.
