Google makes Interactions API the default interface for Gemini models and agents
Google has transitioned its Gemini models and agent systems to the Interactions API as the standard interface, phasing out the previous generateContent structure. This update replaces role-based messaging with a schema organized by typed steps, which the company says will be required for all future agent-oriented feature releases. Developers must now adapt to this framework to access new model capabilities, as Google intends to focus its ongoing infrastructure support and tooling updates exclusively on this new API architecture.
