Cloudflare and AWS Embed x402 Agent Payments at the Edge

Cloudflare and AWS have both integrated the x402 protocol into their edge networks, enabling automated, sub-cent stablecoin payments for AI agents. This implementation revives the long-dormant HTTP 402 payment required status code to facilitate machine-to-machine commerce. By embedding these capabilities directly into infrastructure, the providers allow software agents to settle micro-transactions for services without human intervention.
