State AGs are not waiting for new regulations to exercise authority over AI use
State attorneys general are increasingly using existing consumer protection and fraud laws to regulate business deployments of artificial intelligence. By signaling that current legal frameworks already cover AI-related harms, these officials are bypassing the wait for federal or state-specific AI legislation to initiate investigations and enforcement actions.
