Pew study confirms sharp rise of AI-written text on the web since ChatGPT's launch

A Pew Research Center analysis of nearly 500,000 English-language web pages found that over one-third of sites published since the debut of ChatGPT contain signs of machine-generated text. Commercial websites are ten times more likely to feature this content than educational or government domains, marking a significant shift in the composition of the internet. This trend highlights the rapid integration of automated writing tools in digital media and suggests a widespread move toward algorithmic content production across public-facing platforms.
