Apple could help you prove your iPhone photos aren’t deepfakes
Apple is developing a system that embeds provenance metadata directly into photos captured on an iPhone to verify their authenticity. This feature, discovered in the iOS 27 beta 5 code, aims to confirm that an image was created by a genuine device camera. By establishing a digital trail for media, the tool could help users prove that their photos are authentic rather than generated by artificial intelligence.
