When AI explains its decision, humans may stop thinking independently

Research suggests that when individuals are provided with AI-generated explanations for automated decisions, they are more likely to accept the output without critical evaluation. This phenomenon, often called automation bias, indicates that explanations can inadvertently discourage users from exercising independent judgment.
