New EU laws make AI content labels compulsory – but might just make it harder to spot deepfakes
New European Union regulations now require that content generated or manipulated by artificial intelligence carry mandatory disclosure labels. While intended to increase transparency, critics argue these standardized markers may inadvertently create a false sense of security, potentially making it more difficult for users to distinguish between harmless AI content and malicious deepfakes.
