Zyphra AI Introduces Zyphra Hierarchical Attention (ZHA): A Path to True Subquadratic Attention

Zyphra AI has released Zyphra Hierarchical Attention, a tree-indexed sparse method designed to improve the efficiency of large language models. By using 4 billion tokens of distillation, the technique allows existing models to achieve performance parity with dense attention on reasoning and long-context retrieval tasks. This approach offers a way to reduce computational costs while maintaining accuracy on 256K benchmarks.
