MetaRoCE: A New RDMA Transport Built for AI-Scale Ethernet

Meta has introduced MetaRoCE, a new RDMA transport protocol designed to improve data transfer speeds between GPUs over standard Ethernet networks. By optimizing network communication for large-scale AI workloads, the protocol aims to reduce compute waste and enhance the efficiency of training and serving frontier models. This development allows data centers to support demanding AI operations using existing networking infrastructure rather than relying on specialized, proprietary hardware.
