EU privacy advocates accuse US data annotation firm of snooping on contractors

Privacy advocacy group Noyb has filed complaints in four European Union countries against the data annotation company Scale AI. The filings allege that the firm’s Outlier platform monitors remote contractors through intrusive surveillance, including mouse tracking and webcam activity, in violation of GDPR regulations. These complaints center on the extent to which employers can track the behavior of freelance workers under European privacy laws.
