Databricks’ former AI chief thinks he can cut AI’s power bill by 1,000x

Former Databricks AI lead Naveen Rao has launched a startup called MosaicML successor Un-0, which claims a new image-generation architecture that reduces energy consumption by up to 1,000 times. By moving away from traditional transformer models, the system aims to lower the high computational costs and power requirements currently associated with training and running large-scale generative AI.
