Powering AI is an architecture problem
A recent transmission line failure in Ashburn, Virginia, disconnected over 3 gigawatts of data center load from the regional power grid, marking the second major outage in two years caused by localized infrastructure issues. These events highlight growing concerns regarding the stability of electrical grids supporting high-density AI computing hubs. As data centers continue to scale in size and power demands, the reliability of current transmission architectures is emerging as a critical bottleneck for sustaining consistent AI operations.
